The relationship between Anton Bruckner and Richard Wagner has often been ridiculed in anecdotes, stylised in both a positive and negative manner and leaves behind an array of questions. The anniversary exhibition to mark the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth at the Richard Wagner Sites in Graupa attempts to answer these. In addition to original letters from Bruckner, the handwritten copy of the Third Symphony dedicated to Wagner is the highlight of the exhibition.
A visit to the exhibition is included in the entrance fee to the museum.

Anton Bruckner was finally able to celebrate a real success in Vienna in 1881 with his sublime "Fourth". Alongside the "Seventh", it has remained his most frequently performed symphony to this day and was actually described by the composer himself as "Romantic". Maestro Markus Poschner, one of the most important Bruckner interpreters of our times, will be making a guest appearance, this time at the helm of the top-class "Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana" based in Lugano. He has been their chief conductor since 2015.

It used to be called a "symphony of faith", a "Catholic", even "Holy Scripture". Bruckner himself, on the other hand, said that his "Fifth" was his "Fantastic" and his "contrapuntal masterpiece". The enormous work is indeed a sounding architecture, a cathedral in tones. It will be performed by the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken. The orchestra's current, internationally successful chief conductor, Finnish Pietari Inkinen, will conduct the orchestra

All the great Bruckner motets are interpreted in one place by different choirs and given an innnovative twist propelling them into the 21st century.
The choirs are spread out in different places in the New Cathedral in Linz. Each choir takes its turn singing its chosen motet.
At the end of the event, all the motets will sound simultaneously, culminating in a joint "Locus iste".

Like the following "Seventh", this symphony by Bruckner is only available in a single version. "Majestoso" - not Maestoso! - is what Bruckner wrote about the first movement of his "Sixth", which he whimsically called his "Keckste" (cheeky work). The typical "Bruckner rhythm" dominates large parts of this impressive work. Thomas Hengelbrock, an interpreter of international stature, will be conducting the Mozarteum Orchestra.

With the project "Deference to Anton Bruckner", the composers of the "Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra" have set themselves the task of creating compositions inspired by Anton Bruckner's symphonic works. The brief was to take up elements of Bruckner's musical language, spin these ideas further and create structures from which independent compositions can be derived.

The organ built by Franz Xaver Chrismann in the collegiate church of Engelszell was moved to the Old Cathedral in Linz after the dissolution of the monastery by Joseph II in 1786. There, the organ was supplemented and extended by Anton Bruckner according to his plans.
However, the original case found no place in the cathedral and remained in Engelhartszell. In 1996 - in the spirit of the original builder, Franz Xaver Chrismann - a new organ was installed by the master organ builder, Helmut Kögler, and the Swiss organologist and organ builder, Bernhardt H. Edskes.

This performance of Anton Bruckner's MASS no 3 in F minor (WaB 28), is the 3rd and last in our European tour celebrating his 200 year anniversary! The other concerts are held in Brussels, Belgium and Vilnius, Lithuania.

It is with great pride and excitement we present this marvelous Bruckner work! He himself adored it, said it was his musical testament, and one of his last wishes was to hear it again! And unfortunately it is not very often presented live. But now, you have the chance to experience this highlight in the church music tradition!
