Bruckner composed his valid first symphony in 1865/ 66, when he was cathedral organist at Linz Cathedral. Shortly before he moved to Vienna, the work was premiered under his baton in the Redoutensaal on May 9, 1868. It is the only symphony that received its world premiere in Linz. At this original venue, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and Markus Poschner set the original prelude - a tremolo to the Bruckner Year.

This weekend, not only the First Symphony will be performed, but also the Annulled Symphony, or the Zeroth, which was originally the Second Symphony but was declared "unhappy" and "anulirt" by Bruckner. Music history turned the annulment into a zero. There will be a varied educational program between the concerts.

At the origin it starts!
