New Year

from now on

The New Year's Concert at the Brucknerhaus in Linz on January 1, 2024 was the brilliant start to the first Upper Austrian KulturEXPO to mark the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner's birth! As part of the program, Bruckner's "Locus iste", a world hit of choral literature, was sung. A video compilation with more than 50 contributions from musicians, choirs and ensembles from all five continents shows that Bruckner connects: Bruckner unites. The celebration of voices stood at the beginning of the New Year's concert and united singers from Tehran in Iran to the Western Cape in South Africa.

Afterwards, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and its chief conductor Markus Poschner rang in the Bruckner year with an outstanding musical program. Works by Anton Bruckner and birthday dances by composers also celebrating their anniversaries, such as Bedřich Smetana (200th birthday and 140th death anniversary), Leoš Janáček (170th birthday), Charles Ives (150th birthday and 70th death anniversary) and Arnold Schönberg (150th birthday) gave a lively welcome to the "Super Culture Year 2024".
