This focus of this project lies on ten women who played a vital role in the life of Anton Bruckner. Linz-based artist Zoe Goldstein spent over a year collecting information in order to compile these biographies. The aim is to cast the spotlgiht on these women and gain an idea of who they were and how they lived. Portraits and biographies are examined allowing us to question the role of women in society then and now. The title of the project links the importance of women to his art and refers to his mother, Theresia Bruckner, who was an important female constant in his life. To give a wider audience access to this topic and generate a discourse, this project has been conceived as a travelling exhibition in Linz, Steyr and Attersee. An additional item of the programme, following the opening in the Brucknerhaus on International Women's Day, is a production with a concert and a reading which will take place in the last month of the presentation at the square of the Mariendom (St. Mary's Cathedral).

Anton Bruckner felt at home in St. Florian Abbey. He was a choirboy, was taught, later taught himself and played the organ on the "Krismannin" in the collegiate church. He sought his identity as an artist in this special place in the world, to which he was to return for good on his last journey. The Upper Austrian KulturEXPO Anton Bruckner 2024 exhibition provides an insight into the stages of the composer's life and work at the abbey for the first time with a large number of documents from the abbey archive. Three monumental pavilions in the abbey courtyard invite visitors to experience Bruckner's dreams and visions in exciting multimedia presentations.

On May 4 and 5, the opening weekend of the exhibition, we invite you to visit it with FREE ADMISSION. Take advantage of our special cultural mediation offer with station operation to ask questions directly and immerse yourself even deeper in Anton Bruckner's world. Our first Suuuperkulturfamiliensonntag will take place on May 5, 2024 from 13:00 to 16:00. Under the theme "Come - let's color it in!", our special children's and family tour offers a playful insight into Anton Bruckner's biography. No pre-registration required!

The exhibition invites you to follow Bruckner's traces in Steyr and to get to know his acquaintances. It shows how Bruckner was #HEARD in his quest for recognition and has always been celebrated in Steyr. The visitors meet the composer and #LISTEN to his works. Interactive music installations and contemporary compositions take visitors into previously unknown worlds of sound. The exhibition traces the person Anton Bruckner in Steyr and tells UN#HEARD stories.
Among other things, the animated film "Vergissmeinnicht or how to become an art object" by Ingrid Gaier will be shown.

The exhibition UN#ERHÖRT, dieser Bruckner! Music and Relationship Stories from Steyr at the Stadtmuseum Steyr is accompanied by the website Tonerl. Attractively illustrated, filled with child-friendly texts, historical pictures and documents as well as pieces of music, this website is a digital place especially for children. Curious kids can experience works by Bruckner in multimedia form and deepen their knowledge of the composer in Steyr. The website also provides additional material for educators.

To commemorate the 200th birthday of the great artist, an exciting exhibition about Anton Bruckner awaits you in the Mesnerhaus of the parish church. The exhibition chronicles the turbulent events in his life, his works and the important role played by the town of Steyr when it comes to his great successes.
He spent 20 summers in Steyr, and thanks to the support of the "Steyr Consortium", he was able to refuel and recharge his creativity in the city parsonage and also compose his 8th and 9th symphonies.

However, the inventor of the art vending machine, Helene Huemer, fills it with sculptures, medals, scrolls and drawings as well as comics in the style of Bruckner. The machine is now going on tour through Upper Austria and demands to be filled again and again by creative people. There is a hands-on table for both the young and old where YOU can give your creativity free rein. Get in on the art: model, stamp, draw, write poetry and let us teleport Anton Bruckner, the organ rock star, into the here and now. Insert a 2 euro coin, spin it and plop! The immersive sound space "Being Anton" at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz offers visitors the opportunity to explore Bruckner's world of sound in a completely new way. After all, when we think of Anton Bruckner, we usually think of his legacy, i.e. Bruckner's music and his sounds. But what soundscape surrounded Bruckner himself? What did he listen to in his everyday life? His life was characterized by many social upheavals triggered by the industrial revolution. The steam engine, for example, which was used in steam trains and steamships, not only changed people's mobility options at an unprecedented pace, but also brought a completely new soundscape into the world.
The installation "Being Anton", developed by the Ars Electronica Futurelab, allows visitors to immerse themselves in this world of sound that surrounded Anton Bruckner and his contemporaries. The link with examples from Bruckner's musical oeuvre creates points of contact between the two sound worlds.

The Anton Bruckner Museum in Ansfelden is in the house where the famous composer and musician was born. It is a symbolic place dedicated to Bruckner's life and work. The museum preserves the memory of Bruckner's musical legacy and his deep roots in Upper Austrian culture. Visitors can admire Bruckner's personal objects, musical instruments and manuscripts, which offer an insight into his creative work and everyday life. The historic building reflects the rural surroundings and the time in which Bruckner lived. It is a place of inspiration and education that attracts music lovers as well as historians and those interested in culture.

To commemorate the 200th birthday of Anton Bruckner in 2024, the state of Upper Austria is organising the Upper Austrian KulturEXPO. In addition to the modified permanent exhibition, which includes original items of the musician's clothing, a special exhibition entitled "Anton Bruckner - From Marble to Myth" will be held in Bruckner's birthplace.

The two curators of the KUVA ART SYMPOSIUM, Bibiana Weber and Michaela Reisenberger, are inviting artists from German-speaking countries to set up their studios for several days in April 2024 on the premises of Turm 9 - Stadtmuseum Leonding. The eight artists will work on site on the set theme of Anton Bruckner.

On workdays visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to observe the creative process and exchange ideas directly with the artists. Thus the artists Stefan Esterbauer, Hanna Heidt, Judith Musil and Tibor Kovács, Mariana Nikolai Pacheva, Marion Reisinger, Edith Stauber and Janine Weger will become mediators of their art.

The works created during the symposium will be presented in a special exhibition titled Anton zwischen den Welten (Anton between different worlds). As part of the symposium and in cooperation with Anton Bruckner 2024, there will also be a museum garden festival, known as the TINGEL TANGEL TAG for short.
Clemens Bauder's "Schorgel" (home-made organ) will be used for the first time, offering plenty of opportunity for playful encounters.

What is the gigantic, imposing sound of a Bruckner symphony made of? Playing Anton" in Deep Space 8K at the Ars Electronica Centre gives visitors the opportunity to approach this question in a playful manner": Together with other visitors, they can constantly re-arrange the various instrumental groups of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz using the innovative  and interactive technology of Deep Space 8K. Various facets of the musical and compositional perception of Bruckner's music are illuminated and reinforced by impressive 3D visualisations.
For example, "Playing Anton" - which was developed by the Ars Electronica Futurelab - allows visitors to immerse themselves visually and musically in Anton Bruckner's impressive world of sound together with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. They can then explore its special features in an interactive manner, not just as listeners in front of the stage, but from right in the middle of the orchestra.

The orchestral hall of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz is transformed to a classroom thriving with passion in which the imagination knows no bounds. Markus Poschner works with young musicians from our country on selected pieces of music. They are all winners of the "Prima la Musica" competition  and have all qualified for the national competition at state level.
The chief conductor illuminates musical angles and highlights points of connection that are of great interest to the audience.

Experience the sound of Anton Bruckner's Bösendorfer grand piano and find out more about the history of this important instrument. It accompanied the famous composer for almost 50 years of his life. 
From 4 May to 26 October 2024, our musicians will bring this historic grand piano to life - 6 pm every Saturday in the Landeshauptmannzimmer.

David Wagner is collecting audio donations of short motifs from the 9 Bruckner symphonies on video from the residents of the streets, alleys, paths and squares throughout Upper Austria once frequented by Bruckner. He is using them to create a 9-minute compilation of footage that depicts a representative cross-section of Bruckner's creative symphonic work. He has the support of a randomly generated cross-section of the population from the entire state of Upper-Austria.

In this way 72 short videos are produced. The actual "performance" is filmed as is the journey itself, making contact with the people, the rehearsals and various "making of" scenes. These are then edited to make a film which also lasts for around 9 minutes.

Just like Anton Bruckner, David Wagner navigates his way through the countryside without the need for an engine. With a velocipede as his means of transport, he reaches all of the 72 stations on his Bruckner Road Tour without generating any CO2 thus ensuring that the spirit of Bruckner, which still hovers above the land above the River Enns, remains undisturbed by  pollutants .

David Wagner is looking forward to the company of fellow cyclists along the route to sweeten some of the kilometres he has to cover on these 1,500 kilometres through Upper Austria.

As part of the Bruckner Organ Festival 2024 in Dudelange (Luxembourg), in addition to the festival, where all of Bruckner's 11 symphonies will be performed in organ versions, another organ cycle (in Germany) will be launched at the cathedrals in Speyer, Mainz, Trier and Worms. All of Bruckner's 9 symphonies will be played there in organ versions.

The first cycle will take place from 31.08.2024 to 02.11.2024. On 10 consecutive Saturdays, all eleven Bruckner symphonies will be performed in organ transcriptions from Eberhard Klotz by 10 renowned organists as a cycle in Dudelange (Lux). The concerts will begin at 20:00 in the Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Dudelange, Luxembourg.

The second KathedralKlänge cycle will take place from 4 May to 31 October 2024. All of the nine symphonies of  Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) in the organ versions of Eberhard Klotz. 9 organists of international repute will perform  on the large, symphonic cathedral organs on the large symphonic Cathedral organs in Speyer, Mainz and Trier. In addition, a choir concert will be held with the St. Florian Boys' Choir and the organ featuring works by Bruckner in Worms Cathedral.

This is a place where everything takes infinitely long, it is infinitely quiet, a place where mystery is strong. In this enchanted glade, the ten symphonies of Anton Bruckner resonate 666 times longer. A pause of one sole minute in Bruckner's music becomes a silence of eleven hours and six minutes. The rustling of the leaves, birdsong, the creaking of trees and the horns of distant ships are the real sound of Bruckner, namely the sound for him. David Wagner is collecting audio donations of short motifs from the 9 Bruckner symphonies on video from the residents of the streets, alleys, paths and squares throughout Upper Austria once frequented by Bruckner. He is using them to create a 9-minute compilation of footage that depicts a representative cross-section of Bruckner's creative symphonic work. He has the support of a randomly generated cross-section of the population from the entire state of Upper-Austria.

In this way 72 short videos are produced. The actual "performance" is filmed as is the journey itself, making contact with the people, the rehearsals and various "making of" scenes. These are then edited to make a film which also lasts for around 9 minutes.

Just like Anton Bruckner, David Wagner navigates his way through the countryside without the need for an engine. With a velocipede as his means of transport, he reaches all of the 72 stations on his Bruckner Road Tour without generating any CO2 thus ensuring that the spirit of Bruckner, which still hovers above the land above the River Enns, remains undisturbed by  pollutants .

David Wagner is looking forward to the company of fellow cyclists along the route to sweeten some of the kilometres he has to cover on these 1,500 kilometres through Upper Austria.

The immersive sound space "Being Anton" at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz offers visitors the opportunity to explore Bruckner's world of sound in a completely new way. After all, when we think of Anton Bruckner, we usually think of his legacy, i.e. Bruckner's music and his sounds. But what soundscape surrounded Bruckner himself? What did he listen to in his everyday life? His life was characterized by many social upheavals triggered by the industrial revolution. The steam engine, for example, which was used in steam trains and steamships, not only changed people's mobility options at an unprecedented pace, but also brought a completely new soundscape into the world.
The installation "Being Anton", developed by the Ars Electronica Futurelab, allows visitors to immerse themselves in this world of sound that surrounded Anton Bruckner and his contemporaries. The link with examples from Bruckner's musical oeuvre creates points of contact between the two sound worlds.

To commemorate the 200th birthday of the great artist, an exciting exhibition about Anton Bruckner awaits you in the Mesnerhaus of the parish church. The exhibition chronicles the turbulent events in his life, his works and the important role played by the town of Steyr when it comes to his great successes.
He spent 20 summers in Steyr, and thanks to the support of the "Steyr Consortium", he was able to refuel and recharge his creativity in the city parsonage and also compose his 8th and 9th symphonies.

The exhibition invites you to follow Bruckner's traces in Steyr and to get to know his acquaintances. It shows how Bruckner was #HEARD in his quest for recognition and has always been celebrated in Steyr. The visitors meet the composer and #LISTEN to his works. Interactive music installations and contemporary compositions take visitors into previously unknown worlds of sound. The exhibition traces the person Anton Bruckner in Steyr and tells UN#HEARD stories.
Among other things, the animated film "Vergissmeinnicht or how to become an art object" by Ingrid Gaier will be shown.

Children's website Tonerl
The exhibition UN#ERHÖRT, dieser Bruckner! Music and Relationship Stories from Steyr at the Stadtmuseum Steyr is accompanied by the website Tonerl. Attractively illustrated, filled with child-friendly texts, historical pictures and documents as well as pieces of music, this website is a digital place especially for children. Curious kids can experience works by Bruckner in multimedia form and deepen their knowledge of the composer in Steyr. The website also provides additional material for educators.

The Anton Bruckner Museum in Ansfelden is in the house where the famous composer and musician was born. It is a symbolic place dedicated to Bruckner's life and work. To commemorate the 200th birthday of Anton Bruckner in 2024, the state of Upper Austria is organising the Upper Austrian KulturEXPO. In addition to the modified permanent exhibition, which includes original items of the musician's clothing, a special exhibition entitled "Anton Bruckner - From Marble to Myth" will be held in Bruckner's birthplace.

ORGAN TOUR "Behind the scenes of Bruckner's organ" On this tour, you will be able to look behind the scenes at Bruckner's organ with the monastery's organist: how does an organ work, what does it look like inside, how do the various stops sound?
