Anton Bruckner is not just a local phenomenon in Upper-Austria. He is a world-renowned and recognised "great" as a musician. Who was this man, in whose honour an entire year has been declared the year of Bruckner in Linz and Upper-Austria 200 years after his birth?

The exhibition embarks on a journey into Bruckner's past, exploring the set pieces that remain or have emerged over time and placing them in new contexts. We encounter an introverted nerd somewhere between provincial dust and the big city, an unrecognised genius searching for love. The life and work of the musical genius are both illuminated and critically questioned from today's point of view. Views, original artifacts and documents, and contemporary visualisations shed new light on a great musician. In six themed rooms, the story of Bruckner is retold and made tangible.

The relationship between Anton Bruckner and Richard Wagner has often been ridiculed in anecdotes, stylised in both a positive and negative manner and leaves behind an array of questions. The anniversary exhibition to mark the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth at the Richard Wagner Sites in Graupa attempts to answer these. In addition to original letters from Bruckner, the handwritten copy of the Third Symphony dedicated to Wagner is the highlight of the exhibition.
